About this deal

Our awareness that the outcome is uncertain is what prompts us to prepare; it calls us to attention. Though things didn’t look too promising at first, a widespread awakening occurred, and huge numbers of people rose to the challenge of creating the life-sustaining society familiar to the storytellers now. Since its inception in the late 1970’s, it has helped countless thousands of people around the globe find solidarity and courage to act despite rapidly worsening social and ecological conditions. In the first edition, the collapse of our civilisation was viewed as a risk for the future that might be preventable if we acted in time. With such significant worsening of planetary conditions over the last decade, the new edition begins with a recognition that a collapse process is already underway.

We believe that outdoor and adventurous activities offer children and young people the opportunities to experience challenge, to develop valuable life skills and gain a fantastic sense of achievement. Power-with is based on synergy, where two or more parties working together bring results that would not have occurred if they had worked alone. Inspired dreams and visionary moments are simply times of increased connectedness with the deeper flows of our collective identity.

We can think of it as a flame in our hearts and minds that guides us and shines through our actions. This conversation with Dr Mark Williamson was recorded at a live Action for Happiness event on the 23rd Feb 2023.

With process thinking, we view reality more as a flow in which everything is continually moving from one state to another. Chapter 2: Trusting the Spiral

This was a brilliant introduction to the Work That Reconnects. The mix of theory and practical exercises allowed us to fully experience the work for ourselves, whilst also understanding some of the underpinning theoretical framework. At the end of the day, I felt reconnected with my interest in environmentalism, in a way that was both gentle and powerful.” Arne Naess introduced the term ecological self to describe the wider sense of identity that arises when our self-interest includes the natural world Chris will draw on health psychology, systems thinking and an empowerment approach known as the ‘work that reconnects’. He will share how Active Hopecan help you discover a more ‘sustainable happiness’ to feel happier today and support your hopes for the future. We can look at our pain for the world in a similar way: it is the world system, or Gaia, feeling through us. The second meaning is about desire. It is this kind of hope that starts our journey — knowing what we hope for and what we’d like, or love, to take place. It is what we do with this hope that really makes the difference. Passive hope is about waiting for external agencies to bring about what we desire. Active Hope is about becoming active participants in bringing about what we hope for.
