We then heard then-headteacher Drew Povey say that they had "really high hopes" for the year ahead, before "it all went quite badly wrong" as Povey and three other members of staff found themselves suspended.

We were also lucky enough to get an early run of his latest book to take away, which I can’t rate highly enough.It's unclear how much of the behind-the-scenes troubles will make it into the new series of Educating Greater Manchester, although it will likely feature new interviews with Povey about his suspension and the decision behind his resignation. Through sheer determination and strong, visionary leadership, Drew and his management team (including his two brothers) have wiped out the GBP600k a year deficit and are reducing the huge debt - while continuing to get standout results from pupils.

His look at the system and the way in which the school has been handed a debt it never wanted and the way he has grown a fantastic team of leaders to nurture and support the students is definitely inspiring. Now there is enough clarity for us to be able to broadcast the series," a Channel 4 spokesperson told TES. A highly distinguished coach, for almost two decades, Drew served as a Leadership Development Coach for the infamous Warrington Wolves, helping them substantially improve their ranking in the Super League. All that I can say is I want to work at Harrop or at least shout his word to everyone so they take notice and listen and follow.

He resigned to avoid "further damage to be caused" to the reputation of the school as a result of the investigation, as well as offering to work "pro-bono" to support the school over the coming year. He delivers the messages in a very clear fashion which I’m sure will be memorable for a long time after the session. But whilst the Educating Greater Manchester TV show is one of the best things I've seen this year, Drew Povey's book is even better.

But production on the series wasn't as straightforward as before due to a story that broke after filming finished in July 2018, which left Channel 4 unsure whether the series would actually air.The Povey brothers are inspiring and what they and the whole Team Harrop have achieved is astonishing. He became Movies Editor in 2019, in which role he has interviewed 100s of stars, including Chris Hemsworth, Florence Pugh, Keanu Reeves, Idris Elba and Olivia Colman, become a human encyclopedia for Marvel and appeared as an expert guest on BBC News and on-stage at MCM Comic-Con. Seeing how Drew and his team worked with each other with the challenges they face whilst keeping the kids at the forefront of everything kept me watching. I would have liked more detail about interventions and processes implemented but this book is informative. Drew is phenomenal at listening and gives fantastic tips and ideas on how to improve both work and life performance.

I'm a sucker for anything school-based, uplifting and northern, so when all three come together, I'm hooked. I didn't warm to Drew when I started watching the Educating series, in fact of all the series he was my least favourite Head.

His work and methods have been proven to empower individuals and teams to exceed in this ever-changing business world.
