There’s something about social media that keeps us trapped, and it trains people like myself who are in positions of privilege and power to know that all I have to do is tweet out my thoughts and prayers, and I’ll get this many retweets, and I’ve done my work. What’s most shocking about these is how predictable tweets are, and also: how absolutely banal the ally sentiments and how vicious the attacks.

I do think books and shows, done with good intention, are an extra source of light to shine on the issues women face. What I do know is that one of the most fundamental differences between men and women is that one can easily hurt or kill the other with just their bare hands.However, when Jamar stops attending the support group session Pear gets worried but through Pear we learn the difference of perspective. One can dwell on a tweet without the noise and see for sure that something seems deeply wrong with how we communicate with one another. The section of tweets is particularly devastating, as Tamblyn uses actual cultural figures to create a realistic sequence in which the content goes from sympathy for the men (few likes) to needing to be seen showing sympathy to just who can use their pain to get more attention and sell something.
