About this deal

Charlie, like all the Stones, made everything seem instinctive. But a great deal of rehearsal and symbiosis goes into mastering a two-and-a-half-hour set containing people’s cherished musical memories, and Leavell has been instrumental in that process. ‘Charlie played on some of the most iconic records ever made, obviously,’ he says. ‘But when we would go to present those things live, he couldn’t always remember all the exact things he did, or where the changes would come. A fascinating insight into the band and the times in which it evolved. It’s a riveting read even if you aren’t a fan.” – Daily Express.

Art and Design – seems to be a miscellaneous photo collection of covers, logos, different views and a photo of Jagger and Warhol T.O.T.A. '75 is created in a limited edition of 2,500 signed copies. In 2015, just 400 of these rare books were specially made into Anniversary Copies that celebrate Ronnie Wood's first tour with the band. As well as being signed by tour manager Peter Rudge and diarist Christopher Simon Sykes, these copies were additionally signed by Ronnie Wood. Appendix including Stones in the media, a Stones timeline, a discography, and photographers’ biographies In his role as the tour's official diarist, no area was off-limit for Christopher Simon Sykes. The result is a massive and absorbing 27,000 word narrative to accompany his many hundreds of photographs. Wyman’s narrative, adapted from his comprehensive diaries is awash with delightful detail. What makes this book so interesting is its disregard for hindsight.” – Daily Telegraph. The section on their instruments was beautifully shot and their thoughts on those guitars (and a few drum sets) illuminates just what these instruments mean to them. The clothing section was fun to look through and see the evolution of their clothes and styles but honestly I didn't read much of it. During the 1960s and 70s the Rolling Stones were the polarising figures in Britain, admired in some quarters for their flamboyance, creativity and salacious lifestyles, and reviled elsewhere for the same reasons. Confidently expected never to reach 30, the band is now celebrating 60 years together with a European tour, Sixty, to mark the occasion. Of the original line-up, only Jagger and Richards remain, along with 'new boy' Ronnie Wood, who joined the band in 1975. For all the absurdity of a man yearning to be performing in a jazz club playing to a combined total on the two legs of the tour of 5.5 million people, Charlie told me soon afterwards that doing those gigantic shows was painless. ‘The Stones are very easy to play with. In this day and age it’s very easy to play, because …’ Here came another of his unexpected pauses and changes of direction. ‘Let’s see … I blame Led Zeppelin for the two-hour-long show. Now, you see, we jumped in a few years from doing 20 minutes, all the hits and off – the Apollo Revue, we’ll call it – we went from doing club dates which are two sets a night, which was great fun, to doing two minutes, because you got pulled off the stage, to doing 20-minute Apollo-type shows to doing, thanks to Led Zeppelin, this two-hour long show.

Now, for the first time ever and with the Stones' blessing, this fascinating array of notes, images and paraphernalia is available in its entirety in a magnificent handmade book and boxed set - a truly memorable and rare collector's item.

Straight from Wyman’s huge personal archive, Rolling With The Stones features previously unreleased letters, photographs, memorabilia and personal journals. With over 2,000 Rolling Stones photographs, more than 45 beautifully designed Rolling Stones tour spreads, Rolling Stones song lists from every show and Rolling Stones biographies on each band member, there is no need for any other Stones book to be written. Fisher was the founder of Stufish, the set designers whose relationship with the Stones continued all the way to 2022’s SIXTY festivities. As the company prepared for the launch of that European itinerary – sadly without Charlie’s new input – modern-day chief executive Ray Winkler told the Guardian about Steel Wheels.

Charlie was no stadium afficionado, but he understood the basic economics. Otherwise, he mused in a 1998 conversation, ‘You’d be playing a month in a town to play to 30,000 people. Where would you play, in a 3,000-seater hall? So it’s to accommodate that, and hopefully you can fill it up. And that’s what we’ve become. It’s our own fault, or pleasure, or whatever you call it. That’s how we’ve directed what we do. That’s how the world of doing what we do has gone. The Anniversary Copies feature a specially designed cover created to Ronnie Wood's approval, inspired by his metal 'disc front' Zemaitis guitar. The instrument remains one of Wood's go-to guitars for playing slide and, as well as being played throughout the '75 tour, has appeared on many Stones recordings. The book's aluminium cover is silkscreened with the same engravings that are etched onto the front of Wood's famous instrument.
